One day, while at the factory, Fumiki encounters a peculiar dog - one that possesses the ability to comprehend human language and generate blades from its forehead. The dog's ear is engraved with the cryptic digits "23." Despite numerous enigmas surrounding the creature, Fumiki and the dog establish a connection founded on trust. As it appears, "23" journeyed to the town following divine guidance which instructed it to "observe mankind." However, lurking in the shadows is a colossal organization maneuvering to seize "23." The group's leader, Kiryu, covets "23" as possession of the dog would grant him control over "Tokoyonokuni" - the land found beyond an ocean of the dead, where ancestors and human spirits reside. This land is marketed as a paradise of never-ending life and extravagance.
