When Merleawe left her hometown and moved to the capital city of Viegald for wizard school, she encountered a man who kidnapped her on the way to class. He brought her to the castle where she was given a momentous task - pretend to be the kingdom's master wizard, Slythfarn. Fearing that if anyone knew of Slythfarn's absence, war would break out, the inner circle had decided to find a replacement. Despite lacking the skills required to cast spells beyond the basic ones, Merleawe agreed to the job.
However, on top of her limited magical abilities, she didn't even know who Slythfarn was. As she tried to unravel the conspiracy behind his disappearance, she had to maintain her guise as both the master wizard and a first-year student.
