Born in the wrong era, Mameda is a tanuki who yearns to trick humans. Unfortunately, the era of tanuki shenanigans has passed. However, Bunko, a rakugo master, reveals to Mameda that there is still a way to enchant humans through words, rather than illusions. Compelled to become Bunko's apprentice, Mameda faces an uphill battle to persuade the disciplined master to accept her into her tutelage.
