Upon his release from prison, Young Yotarou finds himself without family or a place to go. Determined to pursue his passion for rakugo, a form of Japanese comedic storytelling, he seeks out the legendary master, Yakumo Yuurakutei. Despite Yakumo's usual reluctance to take on apprentices, Yotarou's enthusiasm and dedication win him over. Alongside Konatsu, a young resident of Yakumo's household, Yotarou embarks on a journey to revitalize rakugo, which is in decline in the Shouwa era.
However, as Yotarou delves deeper into the world of rakugo and grows closer to his mentor and "big sis," he discovers glimpses of their troubled pasts. Tensions rise within the household, and Yotarou worries for their future. Nevertheless, he remains focused on his ultimate goal of becoming a rakugo master and bringing the art form to new heights.
