One day, Aki Tomoya, a high school otaku, discovers his dream girl, but is disappointed when he realizes that she doesn't leave much of an impression on him. As a devoted fan of all things otaku, Tomoya decides to transform this girl into the main character in a 2D dating simulation game, the only world he truly knows. With the aim of achieving his vision, he seeks out the help of his childhood friend, Eriri Spencer Sawamura, who is half-foreign and possesses artistic talent, to be the illustrator. He also invites the world-famous prodigy writer, Kasumigaoka Utaha, to write the story.
