During the Tenmei Era of Japan, famine and disease ravaged the land, leaving few survivors in the wake of battles waged by average swordsmen. However, three samurai spirits found themselves intertwined by fate: the nature-devoted Ainu priestess Nakoruru, the death-wishing daredevil Haohmaru, and the Shogun's fiercely loyal ninja Hanzo. They united under Nakoruru's guidance to confront the unearthly forces of the Dark Kingdom, led by the half-human wizard Madou Shiranui. The Dark Kingdom sought to provoke a war between the nation's warlords, whose ensuing destruction would pave the way for the conquest of Earth. The question remained: Could these three courageous samurai triumph over a legion of demons and prevent a full-scale assault?
