The year was 1952 in Tokyo when the intriguing disappearance of a medical practitioner and his wife, who was unnaturally pregnant, aroused the curiosity of Sekiguchi Tatsumi, a writer. He sought the assistance of Chuuzenji Akihiko, an old associate who owned a bookstore and worked as an exorcist part-time. Although unwilling, Chuuzenji Akihiko accepted the proposal to conduct an inquiry into the disappearance.
