Ginji Kusanagi, a high school student, has finally accomplished his goals by making his professional boxing debut and scoring a date with Minako, the girl he's been pining for. Unfortunately, fate has other plans in store for him. After experiencing a fatal accident, his spirit is detached from his body, causing him to die prematurely. However, an angelic being presents him with an option to reincarnate as an animal and reunite with his body upon its expiration. Ginji picks a penguin, which is Minako's favorite animal, and becomes Gin the penguin. As he waits for his reincarnation, he attempts to adapt to his new life as a penguin and coexist with Minako.
