Six centuries in the past, Kagemitsu Kumou was summoned to Lake Biwa and asked to abandon his farming lifestyle to become the head of the shrine. His newfound responsibilities included safeguarding the spiritual entity Botan, who resided within the shrine. To call forth the typically mild-mannered yet incredibly powerful demon, an entire clan of onmyouji needed to be sacrificed. However, her existence was necessary to imprison the cursed "Orochi," a massive serpent and embodiment of disaster that awakens every 300 years.
Following the Orochi's last encapsulation, Botan's destiny became intertwined with Hirari Abeno, a man who claimed to have adored her since he was a child. As time progressed, the two continuously crossed paths, eventually recalling their affection for each other. In this lifetime, can they, alongside their comrades, vanquish the Orochi once and for all? Is it possible for them to break out of the endless cycle of separation and reunion to achieve happiness?
