The story takes place in a family restaurant situated in Hokkaido, Japan's northern prefecture. Souta Takanashi, a 16-year-old high school pupil, works part-time there alongside his peculiar colleagues. Among them are Popura Taneshima, a schoolgirl who is one year older than Souta but often perceived as a younger student, and Kyoko Shirafuji, the 28-year-old store manager who doesn't lift a finger at work.
