Sonobe Munekazu rescued Hisaya from his abusive ex-boyfriend and offered him a place to stay at his chic French restaurant. Despite feeling grateful, Hisaya became suspicious when Sonobe's friend, Nagamori Kyou, entered their lives and their relationship grew closer. He began to wonder why Sonobe had taken him in and started to doubt both himself and their bond. Hisaya eventually found employment at the restaurant, but his insecurities continued to fester.
