An old man named Arrabarus and a young boy named Ashika reside on a small island in Marmundo's vast ocean, where they act as guardians of a lighthouse that holds a mystical light dubbed Niselle. During a storm, Ashika saves Lady Ruliya, a young knight who had gone off course, and she offers him anything as a gesture of gratitude. However, Ashika's request to become a knight like Ruliya almost causes her to regret making such a pledge. Nonetheless, Ashika becomes Ruliya's squire after his father challenges her to a duel. Meanwhile, a brainy thief named Alcantara steals Niselle and abducts Ashika. In the ensuing fight which destroys the lighthouse, Arrabarus dies because of a mysterious link. A knight from the Underworld emerges from the sea to seize Arrabarus. Ruliya vows to rescue the boy and retrieve the light, and Tagmec, the Underworld knight, tells her that she has a destiny to fulfill. He gives her Muertogara, a magical sword.
