The Tang Empire, caught off guard, falls to An Lushan's oppression after he seizes both Luoyang and Chang'an, the empire's two capitals.
As the Tang Dynasty crumbles, Li E, a questionable Assassin who received training from the Hidden Ones in the far West, teams up with loyalists of the Tang Dynasty to turn the tide and save both the dynasty and the country from impending disaster.
