The central storyline of the novel revolves around a virtual game called D.P. (Danger Planet) that is played on an intranet platform. In order to participate in the game, players utilize a Virtual Puppet (VP) as their avatar. Unlike other online games, a person with adequate programming abilities can modify their VP.
The protagonist of the story is Kirio Nimura, a typical high schooler who enjoys playing games. Together with his friend Kurata, they frequently engage in D.P. matches after class. However, their routine is disrupted when they encounter a highly skilled adversary.
Also included in the book are one-shot stories, with Volume 5 featuring "Last Stop, Yuusha Isetsu."
