In his latest volume for PictureBox, Yokoyama strikes out into new territory: color! Titled Color Engineering, the book features previously unpublished imagery from the 2000s alongside dozens of vibrant drawings and paintings that Yokoyama created during a six-week Tokyo studio event in 2010. Gatefold pages showcase a selection of these colorful pieces, which are interspersed with comic-strip sequences rendered in techniques ranging from photography to hyper-real portraiture. While still exploring the realms of machines, architecture, and post-human fashion, these sequences also offer glimpses into Yokoyama's personal life and environment, with rural details woven into the narratives. As always, the book has been designed and edited by the artist himself.
