Despite the war ending, fighter planes still fill the sky for Iono Akatsuki. He pays no attention, however, as he goes about his daily routine of attending school. Compared to others, Akatsuki possesses superior eyesight and physical abilities, but they only serve him in fist fights. His close friend, Seibu Tsubasa, whom he met at age nine and sees as a true brother, holds a doctorate at the same middle school where he teaches Akatsuki's class.
Upon discovering his Kigan, or machine eyes, Akatsuki's life is transformed. Few in the world possess this ability, which allows the body to function without any restrictions. With 360-degree vision and rapid decision-making skills, he now pilots Warbird jets as the military's secret weapon against the inevitable return of the world war.
