While teaching elementary school, Odagiri Itaru visited Aoyagi Rikuto's home to investigate his tendency to doze off in class. He was surprised to learn that Rikuto regularly helped his father, Aoyagi Kaiji, a manga artist. Odagiri began to visit the family frequently to ensure Rikuto was getting enough rest and, over time, developed feelings for Kaiji.
