As towns and cities expand, immortals who have attained Ascendance blend in among mortals, some unable to resist consuming humans. These instances may make headlines, but have no further impact. As a result, monsters and demons are nearly non-existent, with infrequent appearances from descending Gods to combat any remaining demons. While some Ascendants visit the mortal realm for nostalgia, they have personal goals to pursue. To prevent harm to the mortal realm, the Heavens deploy Guardian Gods to retrieve errant Ascendants.
