In the depths of the forest lies a sacred shrine cared for by head priest Masataka Kani. This shrine is devoted to the Chinese Zodiac animals and their attendants. One fateful day, Kotarou Komano seeks refuge at the shrine for his spirit companion, a calico cat named Koma. Desperate to save Koma from fading away due to lack of worship, Kotarou is willing to forgive the leaders of the Chinese Zodiac for their past mistakes.
Being a cat lover himself, Masataka accepts Kotarou's plea without hesitation. As their bond deepens, a major issue surfaces: each month, Masataka is possessed by a different Chinese Zodiac animal, causing his behavior to alter dramatically. Can they find a way to overcome this barrier and continue their relationship?
