While playing Fiendfire, Tu Lan, the game's top-ranked player, received an urgent message from his supposed brother, Tu Mu, prompting him to log out and check on him. However, upon logging back in, Tu Lan found that someone had taken his brother's place. Determined to save the real Tu Mu, Tu Lan tried to log back in, only to find that he had lost his rank and was stuck at Lv1 without the ability to log out. As if things couldn't get any worse, Tu Lan had to face his own high-level avatar and the dangers it presented. This is the plot of Fiendfire, as portrayed in the original webcomic and its official English interpretation.
