Gift revolves around Haruhiko Amami, a high school student who has a significant connection to the mysterious power that envelops Narasakicho. This town is distinguished by two peculiar features: a rainbow that remains stationary in the sky, irrespective of the weather, and the townspeople's possession of an extraordinary ability called Gift. Each resident can employ Gift's power once in their life to perform a single miracle that requires the shared emotions of both the giver and the receiver. Any disparity in feelings leads to a distorted Gift that can wreak havoc in the environment. In these cases, a black line appears in the rainbow until the Gift is used correctly. The story begins with Riko Fukimine, Haruhiko's sister, returning home after a long hiatus. Riko’s return sparks a series of rapid changes in Haruhiko's life as old emotions resurface.
