Miltia was burdened with the duties of a servant and mistreated by her stepmother and stepsister, who used her lack of familial ties as an excuse. Obtaining enough food for sustenance was a daily struggle, whereby she had to scavenge for whatever ingredients she could find. Conversely, her stepsister received favorable treatment from their stepfather and stepmother, while her fiancé only cared about a woman's appearances and age. They cruelly terminated the engagement publicly and forced her into marrying the notorious "Cursed Duke," Duke of Lönnrot.
