While in search for his hungry brother, Hachiya Rei takes a break and offers prayers at a shrine. Unfortunately, he is wrongly accused of stealing funds from the shrine and is forced to work to repay the supposed stolen amount. In the meantime, the actual thief is revealed to be a wicked deity called Kagutsuchi, who had used the stolen money. Rei confronts Kagutsuchi and releases the god of fire from within him. As Rei acts as Kagutsuchi's representative, he can use the god's flames to eradicate other deities. Nevertheless, unpredictable events occur.
