Saneatsu Asada's fixation on Hotaru started when his absentee parents presented him with the novel About Her. Hotaru's gorgeous rose-colored hair, feline eyes, red studs, and beauty spot at the edge of her mouth absolutely charmed him, and no other connection he had ever known could compete with his passion for Hotaru, leading to their eventual downfall.
One day, Asada fell asleep while reading the novel in the school library. When he woke up, he was convinced that Hotaru had appeared before him in the guise of Nao Nimiya, someone with similar striking characteristics as the character in the book. Despite Nao being a man, Asada believed that destiny had united them. Sadly, their joyful conclusion was destroyed when Hotaru died, resulting in their romance being nothing more than a fantasy in Asada's mind.
