Gaie Kensei teams up with his long-standing friend, Nireki Hikari, to enroll in a high school with a competitive kendo club, hoping to learn from the skilled seniors. However, Kensei's father's reputation in the sport precedes him, and the club members reject him, assuming he inherited his father's abilities. With no apparent direction, Kensei comes across Ashihara Naoto's hidden training ground by chance. Naoto dislikes kendo and prefers to read, but she has a natural talent for the sport, and Kensei learns from her.
Naoto helps Kensei prove his worth to the club members, but she refuses to join the team. After rigorous training, Kensei finally secures a spot on the kendo team on the last day of registration, becoming the sole male member from his grade. Hikari also joins, becoming the first female member. Their high school lives are now filled with kendo, solidifying their longstanding bond.
