At first, the plan was to offer a girl as a sacrifice to an oni, but instead, the oni asked for her to be his servant. When he found out she had nowhere else to go and didn't support child labor, the oni proposed another idea- she could be his "wife" in name for now. And that's how an odd couple, made up of a lively oni and a young girl, went on a loving journey together.
