Unknown reasons cause insects, animals, and plants around the world to behave abnormally, leading to an investigation by Takuya Kai and a group from Earth Academia. While researching on his own, Takuya encounters Guru, who discloses that insects are gearing up for a fight against invaders from an alternate dimension. To aid in the battle, Earth Academia designs armor suits, but difficulties arise in creating Bio-Machinery. Guru comes to the rescue by infusing the life force of numerous insects into the armor. The suits, which become B-Commanders, pick Takuya and two other individuals as their wearers. Daisaku Katagiri and Rei Hayama are also chosen, giving them newfound power to join the fight against Jamahl, who come to Earth to enslave humans. After five years of peace, the Earth Academia is now the Cosmo Academia, a research organization that Takuya and Guru collaborate in to develop new Insect Armor as a precaution against future threats. The TV series' action footage and props were later repurposed for Saban's American shows, Big Bad Beetleborgs and Beetleborgs Metallix.
