In 2029, virtual reality dominates both work and play. Tarou Jin works at a university hospital convenience store to earn extra income as he strives to launch his virtual reality server. His only solace is the daily appearance of Maika Hiiragi, a young resident who orders the same lunch and drink. However, during a routine maintenance check on his server, Tarou discovers that Maika is logged in and working as a waitress in a virtual reality game.
