Following the worst catastrophe in human history, the Future Foundation sprung into action to salvage the world. Meanwhile, the Special Crime Investigations unit arose to uncover horrifying and strange homicides. Misaki Asano, an enthusiastic and upbeat member of the team, abhors violence but retains her resolve to instill hope in a dreary world.
Paired with the peculiar slacker Takumi Hijirihara, Misaki's initial mission is to scrutinize a string of dead bodies discovered at a pop concert. Although Hijirihara solves the mystery expeditiously, the offender is discovered dismembered by a notorious vigilante dubbed "Killer Killer," who leaves nothing behind except a cute note. While the Foundation has been attempting to apprehend Killer Killer for years, the culprit responsible for the murders may be closer than they originally thought.
