When the Tetsugome Zorainu, also known as the "Celestial Dog," selects its bride at the end of every winter, all the girls in town hide in their houses, fearing that they might be chosen. Yuzu, the only boy living in a household full of girls, is ostracized by his family and forced to do the household chores. One day, while out by the lake, Yuzu stumbles upon Shuro, a fox spirit with whom he becomes inexplicably connected.
