For years, Katsura and Katsuraya, both long-established confectionery shops in Japan, were fierce competitors situated next to each other. However, their present successors, Takahiro and Kazushi, had a strained relationship. Although Takahiro believed Kazushi was a more skilled sweet-maker than him, he felt resentful after Kazushi suddenly stopped making sweets. Rather than brushing it under the rug, Takahiro confronted Kazushi for an explanation. However, Kazushi placed the blame on Takahiro, further fueling his burning desire for Kazushi.
