You Higuri created a fictional manga series called Ludwig II, which spans three volumes and showcases the life of the infamous and historical Mad King of Bavaria. The manga explores Ludwig II's military career as well as delving into the enigmatic details surrounding his unstable and tragic life, including his strained relationships with his family and his romantic involvement with men. Intense and soulful in tone, the manga is also visually stunning, intricate, and emotional, much like Higuri's previous work Seimaden. Recently, a new edition of the manga was released, this time with just two volumes, both available in English translation.
