After receiving a marriage proposal from Marquis Ancy Betelgeuse, Koyo Rubiet declines due to her prior engagement to childhood sweetheart Terio Alte. However, Terio's affections have since waned and he desires to wed Koyo's younger sister, Melissie. Despite this, Koyo persists in her love for Terio and sends Melissie away to marry Ancy instead. This decision sets off a tragic chain of events.
Years later, Ancy remorselessly slaughters the entire Rubiet family, including his own wife Melissie. Koyo is the sole survivor, but Terio blames her for the tragedy and subjects her to cruel abuse. With a broken spirit, Koyo takes her own life. Miraculously, she wakes up in the past when Ancy first proposed.
Knowing that tragedy is inescapable, Koyo chooses to prioritize the happiness of her loved ones. She accepts Ancy's offer, though it was always a second choice. To her delight, the marriage surpasses her expectations and brings her great joy.
