In her third year of high school, Matsuo Meina moves from Okinawa to Tokyo and plans to live with her older cousin Aki, whom she hasn't met in a long time and admires. To her surprise, Aki's home includes a pet owl named Muffler, as he's been researching owl species at his college. Meina, however, is startled to find out that she has had a serious bird phobia since she was a child and has never encountered an owl in person, let alone lived with one.
