The protagonist of Necrolog was a free writer named Son who was deeply in love with a woman he referred to as 'elder sister' Shue, despite her being deceased. Fu, a young and sly Taoist priest, revived Shue as a zombie bodyguard, using her for his own purposes. To learn the method for fully resurrecting Shue, Son became Fu's apprentice and agreed to assist him in performing irrational tasks. Along his journey, Son encountered various priests and experts of necromancy, even traveling to faraway lands. The book's stories revolve around Chinese necromancy and folklore, hence the title Necrolog.
