In a rural village plagued by depopulation, Keita, a farmer, creates a novel type of fig that quickly gains popularity through promotion by a social media influencer. As a result, economic conditions improve, giving Keita a glimmer of hope that the local school will reopen and his spouse and child will return.
But the tranquility of the village is disrupted by the arrival of a stranger named Suzuki Mutsuo, who seems to be in search of employment. Keita harbors suspicions about the enigmatic individual, whose true identity is revealed when a close friend recognizes him as a recently-released convict convicted of both sexual harassment and murder.
