Families in the Noramimi realm often have their own "mascots" - peculiar beings that reside with them and provide youthful companionship until the kids come of age. Noramimi himself is a mascot, but he's not very well-liked as he resembles an ogre (despite being thought of as a monk by others). Consequently, he's currently residing with "Hello Kids," an organization that pairs mascots with families, hoping fervently that a loving family will eventually take him in.
