Hikawa Naoki, a globally renowned flower artist, deals a severe blow to Kaede, the heir of the esteemed Akizuki flower arrangement institution, by stating that his flowers lack any vitality. Kaede is left feeling completely mortified by this ruthless critique as he reflects upon his own shortcomings. He reluctantly turns to Hikawa for guidance, thinking that his younger twin, Momiji, is the gifted one.
