After the inaugural P-1 Grand Prix, Inaba witnesses the unexpected return of the Midnight Channel, announcing a new clash - the P-1 Climax Grand Prix - led by General Teddie. As the tournament is set to start, the town plunges into darkness, and its inhabitants are showered with a crimson mist, leaving only Yuu Narukami and the Investigation Team unaffected.
The group reunites to investigate the anomaly but is abruptly thrust back into the TV realm. Adding to their dilemma, General Teddie has taken the Shadow Operatives hostage, compelling the Investigation Team to battle their doppelgangers in the tournament and save their allies from certain doom. Furthermore, the group must thwart the merging of the TV world with reality, with an old adversary reappearing and threatening Inaba's fate.
