As the Wind Festival kicks off in Fula City, Ash and Pikachu arrive and meet the mayor's daughter, Margo, and scientist Dr. Hawthorn. With the help of Dr. Hawthorn's groundbreaking virtual reality technology, Ash and Pikachu uncover the city's history and come face-to-face with the powerful Legendary Pokémon Lugia and the elusive Mythical Pokémon Zeraora. However, one of these creatures mysteriously disappears, leaving our heroes questioning its whereabouts.
