Set in the make-believe city of Kazamatsuri, the proliferation of trees and flowers, via tree planting and afforestation, has resulted in the city becoming an overgrown landscape, reminiscent of buildings in other cities. Even though a substantial part of the city has a rural appearance, many conventional urban features still exist. Despite its modernity, there is an odd feeling of reminiscence that emanates from the city. The narrative of the story is centered in a typical high school milieu.
