Hagoromo Maki attends a unique high school for girls that allows air travel as a mode of transportation. Here, she meets her first school friend, Hasegawa Motoko, and the two of them work on revamping an aircraft, which they joyfully take for a spin in the skies. Unbeknownst to them, the plane was previously owned by a renowned pilot who utilized it to safeguard the school's airspace. Maki and Motoko's inexperienced flying skills leave the ace pilot unimpressed, leaving Maki to question her ability to defend her school while flying the plane.
