Trevor Edwards is a successful attorney in New York during the 1970s, and has recently called off his engagement. However, one fateful evening, Trevor realizes that he has misplaced significant documents pertaining to a client, and is unable to find them. Feeling defeated and ready to give up on his career, Trevor is approached by Gene, a young custodian at his law firm, who tells him that he saw Trevor drop the papers while leaving the building. In an act of kindness, Trevor invites Gene, who is homeless, to stay at his home on the freezing winter night. But will a simple offer of shelter be enough to show his appreciation to his savior?
