Pierre Choderlos de Laclos' novel Les Liaisons dangereuses has been adapted into a manga, with the Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont at the forefront of the story. They engage in a cruel competition, using sex as a tool to humiliate and degrade each other. Their targets are Madame de Tourvel and Cécile de Volanges, especially the latter, who has fallen for her music teacher, the Chevalier Danceny. Merteuil and Valmont pretend to be kind to the young lovers in order to gain their trust and then manipulate them to execute their deceitful plans.
