The "Time Loss Phenomenon" engulfs Earth, causing a momentary paralysis of all living beings except for the "Receivers." These select few humans maintain their consciousness and witness the arrival of otherworldly creatures attempting to take over the planet. While playing tennis, first-year middle schooler Futaba Sorano and her friend encounter a fish-like monster descending from the sky. The rest of humanity is transformed into monsters and turned to stone, leaving Sorano and the Receivers responsible for defending their world against the invaders. A new member, Riu, joins their team and their epic journey to save Earth begins.
