Rowell is a young duke living in a world where Spinels, or slaves, are owned by Pels, their masters. However, unlike most Pels, Rowell refuses to conform to societal norms and perpetuates his parents' legacy of never engaging in the buying or selling of slaves. Despite his compassionate beliefs, Rowell faces a challenge when a Spinel runaway named Dev steals his family's precious heirloom and blackmails him into purchasing his services. Dev hopes to leverage Rowell's power and wealth to help him locate his lost family. However, their relationship becomes more complex as Dev tries to assert dominance, causing tension between them. Will Rowell and Dev be able to overcome the animosity between Pels and Spinels, or will their differences hinder their understanding of each other?
