Hatsu Natsuyaki is a freshman in high school who, despite being short, is currently in the midst of a growth spurt. Upon starting his first year, he becomes enamored with Fuyuno Aki, a boy who he finds even more adorable than a girl. To Hatsu's surprise, Aki reciprocates his feelings and expresses a desire to be in a relationship. However, Hatsu refuses until he grows taller than Aki. Just as Hatsu makes this promise, Akimoto Kaname, a tall and charismatic classmate, enters the picture with intentions to pursue both Hatsu and Aki. While Aki remains uninterested, Hatsu's feelings for Kaname remain uncertain.
