Schild was unaware of his father's royal status while growing up but he experienced exclusion from the society due to his illegitimate birth. His mother remarried when he was 13 and to save her from further disgrace, he decided to leave. Before leaving, his mother gave him a sword that had been passed down from his father. Schild was resentful towards his father for leaving him and vowed to use the sword to fuel his thirst for revenge.
