In Tales of Xillia's aftermath, the partition that separated Liese Maxia and Elenpios crumbles, resulting in the two worlds converging. However, the fusion of dimensions causes dissension between the inhabitants of both worlds, with the Elenpians in particular being opposed to the merger. This opposition prompts the creation of a terrorist group named Exodus.
The main focus of the story revolves around Ludger Will Kresnik, a young man who lives with his brother - a high-ranking Clanspia Corp. operative - in a humble Elenpios flat. Unable to secure a position in his brother's firm, Ludger takes up a post as a café chef at the train station. During his initial voyage, he comes across a young girl with aspirations of locating the Land of Canaan, a mysterious paradise that can fulfill any desire. This encounter sheds light on Ludger's family's peculiar power - a power that could potentially bring about the world's end.
