The despotic king insists that Princess Bellia Piolette marry the savage crown prince of Kastor, a man with a sordid history of killing his own wives. Despite the looming danger, Bellia summons her courage and flees into the night. While on the run, she meets a mortally wounded man, Khan, whom she nurses back to health. Her respite is short-lived, however, as she is captured and thrown in the castle's dungeon. Against all odds, Bellia and Khan are reunited and make plans to flee together. Their prospects are upended when Bellia learns the truth about Khan's real identity and is taken by force to Kastor.
